One Of The Most Memorable TV Show Theme’s Was ‘Rawhide’
It’s hard to believe now (and impossible to believe for people of a younger age), but there was a time in television that Western’s dominated the airwaves. Just like now, with this reality…uh…stuff, the late 1950′s and early 1960′s were filled with Westerns.
Remember ‘Wagon Train’, ‘The Virginian’, ‘Bonanza’, ‘The Rifleman’, ‘Have Gun Will Travel’ and of course the King of all western’s, ‘Gunsmoke’.
And then there was ‘Rawhide’. Not only did that show introduce us to Clint Eastwood (gee, whatever happened to him!), but we also met Gil Favor, Wishbone and the others. And the theme song?
Well, the history of television has given us some iconic show themes, and this would be right up there with the best and most famous.
By the way, did you know that the actor that portrayed the trail boss, Gil Favor (his name was Eric Fleming), drowned in 1966 at the age of 41 while filming a movie in Peru?
Yep, those of us that were little guys (and gals) when this came on each week would sing right along.
‘Rollin’, rollin’, rollin…..’
