It's actually more than a grill. It's a smoker too. But it's what it was before it became a grill/smoker that makes it unique. It's where meat and the rubber hit the road at the same time.

I first heard of Chad Soulek's grilling prowess at an anniversary party we had crashed earlier this year. We were in the area around the 4th of July so we stopped into to Carl and Loretta Soulek's anniversary party. Their son Chad had cooked up a LOAD of ribs. We had already had a few beers so we decided to try the ribs out. Un-Bee-Leeve-ah Bull!

Then Chad broke out his phone and showed me his unique grill. It's an old pickup truck. As you can tell by the pictures, it's much more!

Chad sent me a couple pictures the other day and wanted me to spread the word about The Freeman Rib Cook-Off.  Here's the rundown of what's going on.

Saturday August 15, 2015
Bean bag tournament at 12:00 PM
Show and shine at 12:00 PM
19 cooks will be competing

Sweet Corn Eating Contest
Rib judging at 4:00 PM serving starts at 5:00 PM
400 total racks to be cooked

Now, here's the neat thing about the event. It's all for a great cause, it's a fundraiser for a new pumper truck for the Freeman Fire Department.

Good luck to all the participants. You're going to need it if Chad's got his grill fired up!

Share this with all your friends from Freeman, South Dakota or people that used to live there!
