Former O'Gorman football player Easton Schuster has continued his weight lifting career and has recently won a gold medal in a world competition.

Schuster, who graduated in 2015, participated in the 2016 International Powerlifting Federation's World Bench Press Championships. The event took place last week in Denmark.

He participated in the juniors 93kg category of the event. Schuster benched 242.5kg (534.6 pounds) on his first attempt. He followed that with a successful press of 245kg (540.1 pounds) on his second round. His third attempt topped them both with a successful 260kg press (572 pounds). The completed 572 pound press is a USA record according to the O'Gorman Knights Powerlifting twitter account.

It was a dominate victory in his class also. Ito Soshi, who placed second in juniors 93kg, had his highest lift come in at 225kg (496 pounds).
