PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — Officials say an emergency drill at the state Capitol in Pierre that included a mock scenario involving a shooter and fatalities went well.

KCCR radio reports that Wednesday night's exercise involved officers from seven local, state and federal agencies. About 60 state government employees who work in various Capitol offices volunteered to take part. They included Gov. Dennis Daugaard and state Supreme Court Chief Justice David Gilbertson.

State Homeland Security Director Steve Pluta says the drill will be used to tweak security measures at the Capitol.
