HURON, S.D. (AP) — Officials recently searched a small area of land near an irrigation ditch in Beadle County for a Woonsocket woman who disappeared under suspicious circumstances nearly three years ago.

Sanborn County Sheriff Tom Fridley tells KOKK that authorities are continuing to chase leads in the case of Rachel Cyriacks, and the Wednesday effort was another case of that.

He says a team from Nebraska with ground-penetrating radar helped out. Fridley says the equipment is capable of detecting if a person is buried in the ground. He says information that was gathered will be analyzed to determine if the site should be further investigated.

The 30-year-old Cyriacks was last seen Nov. 13, 2013, in Woonsocket. Her damaged pickup truck was found the following January. Authorities suspect foul play in her disappearance.
