A Sioux Falls man wanted on multiple Minnehaha County warrants was captured outside of Scheels on Monday afternoon.

Sergeant Pete Jaros from the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office says the suspect was recognized at the store by an off-duty police officer. Nathan Lecocq was arrested about 2:30 PM without incident.

Jaros says Lecocq has been evading police for some time and has also been captured before.

“He moves around. We believe he’s in a house, they typically don’t tell us the truth. He was arrested, I think, last month over on the east side of town. We got a tip on him and found him outside in a garage. It kind of surprised him so he wasn’t able to go hide in the residence.”

Lt. Dave McIntire lists the numerous charges against Lecocq.

“This gentleman had warrants for Forgery, Identity Theft, Possession of a Controlled substance and Possession of a Forged Instrument as well as Felony Failure to Appear warrants.”

When they arrested Lecocq he was in possession of stolen identities and a pilfered checkbook. McIntire also says Lecocq had a switchblade knife with him which added a weapons charge to his lengthy rap sheet.
