Burnsville, Minn. – The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Board of Directors are pleased to announce the hiring of Erin Lind as the commissioner.  Lind will be the NSIC's fifth full-time commissioner and will begin her duties July 1. Lind joined the NSIC staff in the summer of 2001 and has served as the NSIC Associate Commissioner and Senior Woman Administrator since 2005.

"I am honored and humbled to be selected as the next Commissioner of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. I want to thank Dr. Richard Hanson, chair of the NSIC Board of Directors and President at Bemidji State University for his leadership through the search process, along with all the efforts of the search committee. I also would like to thank the NSIC Board of Directors for their belief in my vision and passion. My eagerness to build on a solid foundation and take the league to a level of excellence cannot be understated", said Lind.

"The board of directors of the NSIC is very pleased with the choice of Erin Lind as our new commissioner. She was selected after an exhausting, national search and we are delighted with the outcome. She will bring experience, depth, and wisdom to a very challenging position", said Hanson.

"My vision for the NSIC is to stand as the model for Division II conferences, achieving a high level of academic and athletic success.  The conference will represent integrity on and off the competition field.  Ensuring fair, equitable and enriching athletic competition that allows for personal and professional growth for student-athletes, coaches and administrators.  I want the NSIC to produce balanced student-athletes who, when their academic and athletic careers are over, are ready to make a difference in our communities. I look forward to working in collaboration with all stakeholders in the NSIC to see that we provide all student-athletes with a memorable and enriching experience," stated Lind.

"The NSIC has a solid foundation and it would not have been possible without Commissioner Butch Raymond. I would like to acknowledge and thank Commissioner Raymond for his leadership. He has been an ambassador for the conference and a constant mentor to me", said Lind.

During her tenure at the NSIC Lind has been active on the national scene as a member of the NCAA Division II Central Regional Advisory Committees for women's basketball, volleyball and softball. Lind has served as Regional Advisory Committee Chair for men's and women's tennis. She was a member of the NCAA Division II Championships Committee and served as chair in 2011-12 and 2012-13. Lind has also served as a presenter and panelist at NCAA National Conventions.

The NSIC is a 16-team, 18-sport, NCAA Division II Conference with teams located in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota.
