Police say an alcohol compliance check of more than two dozen off-sale establishments in Sioux Falls on Wednesday turned up no violations.

Police checked 26 establishments, and all were in compliance, with no sales made to the underage person.

Detective Sergeant John Duprey says it was an excellent way to start off 2014.

Businesses that make sales to underage persons could face fines, suspensions or loss of their liquor or malt beverage licenses, and clerks who make such a sale are required to appear in court.
