Mark William Tassler, Jr. holds a sign up inside his home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to thank everyone in the world for helping the Philippines. Help is coming in from around the globe to aid the devastation after Typhoon Haiyan struck the eastern Philippine coast.

The country is now five days into what could be their deadliest disaster. Philippines President Benigno Aquino said in an interview with CNN on Tuesday that the death toll from the typhoon is likely close to 2,000.

Mark Jr., holding the thank you sign, has many family members in the Philippines. His mother Lorlane, now a citizen and resident of the U.S., was born in the Philippines and lived there until 2008.

Mark is half American from his father Mark Sr. and half Filipino from his mother. He and his mother send out a special thank you message.
