Next Sunday, April 5, 2015, is Easter!  Last year Easter was on April 20. Easter is one of those holidays that doesn't have a fixed date on the calendar, other than the fact it is always on a Sunday.

So, why is Easter so early this year?

Easter is based on the lunar calendar, meaning it's celebrated on the Sunday immediately after the first full moon that follows the vernal equinox.

Huh?  Let's put that into plain English. The vernal equinox - aka, Spring - occurred on March 20. The next full moon is scheduled for April 4, Easter therefore falls on Sunday, April 5.

FYI - Next year, Easter is even earlier. It falls on March 27, 2016.
