Following are some of this week's volunteer opportunities available through the Volunteer & Information Center:

Cakes & Grapes Event Volunteers

Cakes & Grapes benefits the Sioux Empire Safety Village. It's a Novelty Cake Auction, Wine Reception, and Premium Package Auction.  It will be held on March 3, 2016 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Vance Thompson Vision, 3101 W. 57th Street.  Sioux Empire Safety Village is in need of 10 volunteers to help set up for the event and 10 volunteers to tear down after the event is over.  The volunteers are welcome to stay for the event as well.

Mentor Try-It Day

Lutheran Social Services invites you to the Mentor Try-It Day on Wednesday, Feb 24th form 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at Anne Sullivan Elementary School. This is a great opportunity to see what mentoring is all about, and get hands-on experience with children in need of a mentor. There are currently hundreds of students waiting for a mentor, so if you're considering it, come check out this event.

Volunteer at the Food Pantry

Feeding South Dakota needs volunteers who are able to come in a few times per week to help. Tasks might include stocking the shelves or sorting donated products. The Sioux Falls Food Pantry is also seeking adults, teens and groups that could come down and sort and stock food (even for an hour). They're open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, but can be flexible for groups by appointment.

Spirit of Volunteerism Awards

The Helpline Center is seeking your help in honoring the volunteers who make our community a wonderful place. Nominations are now being accepted. Award Categories include: Adult (3 age groups), Youth, Group, and Corporate Humanitarian (2 awards). Nominations are due March 30, 2016.
