Governor Dennis Daugaard says he is appointing Lucas Lentsch of Pierre to replace Walt Bones as Secretary of Agriculture.
The Governor announced that Bones is retiring after more than two years on the job to return to his farming operation near Parker.
Since last year, Lentsch has been with Reinke Gray Wealth Management of Pierre as a financial advisor for farm and ranch families.
Before that, he worked for two years as Director of Agricultural Development for the South Dakota Department of Agriculture.
He also is a former executive director of the state Republican Party.
