New Metal Detectors Used at the Paul McCartney Show Appear to Work Well
If you were one of the countless number of people that attended the Sir Paul McCartney show on Monday night at the Denny Sanford Premier Center, chances are you weren't complaining about the use of the extra security measures employed that night.
The Premier Center rolled out their new metal detectors on the nearly 11,000 people walking through the doors that evening and things seemed to go quite smoothly.
According to Premier Center Security Manager Troy Lubbers, "Just some minor tweaking to the staff and how we had them placed is really all that will be required in the future. Some of the bag lanes were a little cumbersome. I think maybe if we adjust how we had the tables placed, or maybe if we move on person over here instead of over there we’ll be fine" said Lubbers.
Premier Center officials claim they were able to get everyone through security and to their seats 10 minutes prior to the start of the show.
For the most part, there was no one that tried to get anything suspicious or too big through the metal detectors.
Security officials said a couple of folks did attempt to bring in knives and they were simply asked to take them back outside to their vehicles.
Nice job Sioux Falls! All in all the first big event using the new security system went off without a hitch.
