A company that operates emergency medical services systems in California, Florida and Texas is expected to be the new ground ambulance service provider in Sioux Falls effective next May.

City officials say they have issued a notice of intent to negotiate a contract with Paramedics Plus of Texas.

Paramedics Plus was selected over three other applicants by a seven-member review committee from both in and outside the community.

The city's current ground ambulance service provider agreement with Rural Metro expires in May 2015.
