Construction is to begin next month on a $150 million ethanol plant just south of Onida, South Dakota after three years of development and fundraising.

Construction on the 80 million gallon per year Ringneck Energy plant ran into numerous delays due to legal, financial and regulatory hurdles.

President and CEO Walt Wendland says those battles are in the past, and the project's equity drive ends Friday (July 28).

Construction is to begin August  14, 2017 with the work wrapping up late in 2018.
