RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — Eighteen South Dakota National Guard soldiers who served nine months of duty in Afghanistan will be home in time for Thanksgiving.

The members of the Rapid City-based 129th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment will return Wednesday. The Guard says a welcome-home ceremony is scheduled that morning at the Duke Corning Armory at Camp Rapid. Gov. Dennis Daugaard is scheduled to be on hand.

The unit arrived at Fort Dix, N.J., a week ago to go through the demobilization process.

The unit's mission overseas involved public affairs, media coverage and media escorting.
