We attended the 2017 Lucas Oil Nationals drag racing event at Brainerd International Raceway in Brainerd, Minnesota.

We had a fabulous time over three full days at the track. Friday and Saturday were qualifying for the championship day on Sunday.

On Friday, it was cloudy and cool along with damp air. Those are the ingredients for ultimate performance for a race car. An internal combustion engine combines air with fuel to produce power, and the better the air, the more power.

A cool track is also friendly for making record runs. And that's what we saw happen on this day.

Leah Pritchett made a record run in Top Fuel. Plus, Robert Hight made the fastest run ever in Funny Car history.

We had the opportunity to talk with him after the record run. Mark Jr. is pictured with the driver by the race car.
