RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Two people are charged with murder following the separate deaths of two children on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

The Rapid City Journal reports that 50-year-old Cheryl Jealous of Him is the grandmother of a 17-month-old boy who died April 29 in Pine Ridge. She pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder and felony child abuse and neglect May 24. Her trial is to begin July 30.

Thirty-year-old Michael Dubray is charged with first-degree murder in the death of a 10-month-old boy at a home north of Loneman on May 30. Dubray made an initial appearance in federal court in Rapid City on Monday and requested a preliminary hearing to hear the evidence against him. Federal Magistrate Judge Veronica Duffy set the hearing for June 12.
