RAPID CITY - The mother of an 8-year-old girl who drowned at a Rapid City hotel says the family was on a vacation that turned tragic.

Mother Lisa TwoEagles identified the victim to KEVN-TV as her daughter Jayce Ann, of Parmalee. TwoEagles says her two older daughters, ages 10 and 13, were with Jayce Ann at the Econo Lodge pool Saturday morning while she was in her room getting ready to check out. She says her older daughters found Jayce Ann at the bottom of the pool.

TwoEagles says Jayce Ann suffered from a brain disorder but had been swimming for two years and could swim an Olympic-size pool.

Rapid City police and the Pennington County Sheriff's Department are investigating.
