It would be easy to fire a cheap shot at the ethics of members of Congress, although you're not going to get one from me.

But the US House Ethics Committee has announced three House members are under investigation, and one of the members is a next-door neighbor, so to speak, to South Dakotans.

According to the Associated Press, Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota is the subject of one investigation. Earlier reports have said the probe is at least partly based on her unsuccessful run for the Republican nomination for President.

Rep. Peter Roskam (R-IL) is also being investigated, although the Ethics Committee is quick to point out that an extension of an investigation does not necessarily mean a violation has occurred.

And on the other side of the aisle, the ethics of Rep. John Tierney (D-MA) are being investigated. The AP says that during the 2012 campaign,  Tierney was plagued by a gambling scandal involving his wife and two brothers-in-law.

So neither political party has a monopoly on investigations.

We'll wait to see how things turn out.
