Montana Safety and Former Washignton High School Standout Matt Hermanson Arrested

Matt Hermanson - Montana
University of Montana

Montana Grizzlies safety and former Washington Warriors standout Matt Hermanson was arrested Sunday morning on a charge of misdemeanor criminal mischief.

According to police reports, Hermanson, 21, was arrested at 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning and booked into the Missoula County Jail. He was released on bond later that morning.

The charges stem from damage to two signs in the Fort Missoula area, according to Sheriff Sergeant Jeremiah Peterson in a story in the Missoulian:

It looks like one sign was broken and another was bent.

Peterson said he was ‘fairly positive’ alcohol was involved.

After the arrest, authorities discovered a warrant for Hermanson from the City of Missoula for a $114 speeding ticket.

Montana Athletic Director Kent Haslam:

I don’t know all particulars. He had a speeding ticket from a few years back that he never resolved and last night he was cited for criminal mischief. We’ll find out more about it and get together as the athletic conduct team and decide what we’ll do.

Hermanson will serve a one-game suspension this Saturday, when Montana takes on Northern Arizona.

The former Warriors standout is a junior for the Grizzlies and is the second leading tackler on Montana’s squad with 17 through three games.

Hermanson is the son of former Warriors head coach Brian Hermanson.
