Moisture Report Improves for South Dakota

Since springtime is the season where the ground is prepared for growing, periodic checking of the moisture level is of vital importance. The latest drought monitor shows continued improvement in comparison to last week’s survey.

A tiny portion of northeastern South Dakota is officially drought free. The other change involves a swath of the south-central portion of the state. A wet couple of weeks sent an area along the border of Nebraska into a lesser category (D2).

Crop planting especially for corn is running well behind schedule. Which means by the middle of the month, producers will have tough decisions to make about what crops will be planted this season.
