RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - A Mitchell man has pleaded guilty to illegally using dogs to hunt mountain lions.

Defense attorney Matthew Kinney says Wade Musick paid a $120 fine for the misdemeanor and will not lose hunting privileges.

The Daily Republic reports Musick contended that his dogs were legally hunting bobcats last February when they inadvertently treed a lion. Musick said he left the area but his two hunting companions remained and reportedly shot the lion.

The other hunters are scheduled for trial in July on misdemeanor charges.
