You won't see her onscreen, but Miranda Lambert will have an important role in the upcoming movie Something in the Water: The country star has signed onto the project as the executive music producer.

A press release explains that Something in the Water is "a friendship comedy set in the South" -- no relation to Carrie Underwood's hit song of the same name. The movie will focus on five female friends who challenge their significant others to a bass-fishing competition; Deadline describes it as "Bridesmaids meets Steel Magnolias." Lambert will "provide musical curation services" for the movie, the press release explains; she'll also write an original song for it, but she won't be starring in the film, as was previously reported.

Something in the Water was co-written by Trey Fanjoy -- who has directed a number of well-known country music videos, including Lambert's "Kerosene," "Famous in a Small Town," "The House That Built Me," "We Should Be Friends" and many more -- and Cindy McCreery. It will be Fanjoy's feature-film directorial debut.

Country Stars Who Have Acted in TV Shows and Movies

“Strong, amazing women are at the heart of this story," Fanjoy says in the press release, "and they’re also at the center of this film creatively."

Grace Helbig will star in Something in the Water, which is being produced by Fanjoy, Helbig and Ken Treusch for Bleecker Street Entertainnment. Helbig is a comedian, actress and author; she has a development deal with Lionsgate, the company at the helm of Something in the Water, and she previously co-wrote, co-produced and co-starred in Dirty 30 and voiced a character in the movie Trolls.

"Grace is in the zone comedically and at the top of her game and so is Miranda, artistically and musically," Fanjoy continues. "I’m thrilled to have so many wonderful creative collaborators."

Something in the Water is part of a Lionsgate initiative to release movies and TV shows starring YouTube influencers such as Helbig. The movie will be filmed in Nashville later in 2017.
