Minnesota Teen Dies in Northern South Dakota Crash

A teenager from Minnesota died Monday in a one-vehicle crash northeast of Ipswich, in Edmunds County.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says the crash happened on 125th Street, about a half mile west of State Highway 45.

Troopers say 15-year-old Vannah Decker of Gibbon, Minnesota was a passenger in an SUV driven by Janos Stahl, 17, of Ipswich.

The vehicle was eastbound when the driver lost control and the vehicle went into the ditch, rolled and came to rest in a field.

Decker was not wearing a seatbelt. She was thrown from the vehicle and was dead when crews arrived.

Stahl also was not wearing a seatbelt. The Patrol says his injuries were serious but not life-threatening.
