BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) — The 4-H breeding beef show at the 2016 South Dakota State Fair will feature a new division.

The South Dakota State University Extension says the State 4-H Beef Committee has added a miniature heifer division.

John Madison is the SDSU Extension 4-H youth program adviser. He says interest in miniature cattle has been growing across the country in recent years.

Madison says South Dakota youth are looking for opportunities to show their miniature cattle, but there are not many events where they can do so.

The SDSU Extension says all breeds of miniature heifers will be shown together during next year's fair.

The 2016 State Fair will run September 1st through 5th in Huron.
