Memorable Night At Target Field Puts A Cherry On Top Of The All Star Festivities In Minneapolis

The overwhelming feelings I got from Tuesday nights All Star Game at Target Field brought me to experience chills on numerous occasions.

I got chills when the Target Field faithful gave the current and former Twins huge welcomes in the introductions prior to the game.

I got chills they rolled out the gigantic American Flag while Idina Menzel sang the national anthem.

I got chills when Derek Jeter stepped to the plate in the fist inning as he lead off the bottom half of the first inning and was received to a 90 second standing ovation.

I got chills when Derek Jeter was again honored as he exited the game in the top of the fourth inning to not only a standing ovation and welcome from all the American League players in the dugout, but a curtain call from the crowd.

And finally I got chills as the fans thanked MLB, the Minnesota Twins and all the All Stars as the game concluded with applause and praise.

Before you make the assumption that maybe I was just chilly, the fact of the matter is, this was a special All Star Game.

The fans new it, the media new it and the players embraced it.

Other than the obvious story lines, this All Star Game is also a great look into the bright future of MLB.  With all the young stars on the field this year, it just goes to show what kind of bright future that is, with dynamic athletes and personalities for the game to enjoy.

We may never see a player/person like Derek Jeter in baseball again and Target Field will likely not see another All Star Game, but the memories will remain in baseball history forever.

MLB should be proud, the Twins should be proud, the players should be proud and the fans should be proud that they all were a part of such a memorable night.
