Medical Center in Faulkton Could Build Addition This Fall
FAULKTON, S.D. (AP) — A medical facility in Faulkton could begin a much-needed expansion project as early as this fall.
The Aberdeen American News reports that the Faulkton Area Medical Center is planning to build a nearly 9,100-square foot addition to the west end of the hospital.
The hospital's board has approved the construction and South Dakota Department of Health will discuss the project during a Wednesday meeting. If the state OKs the project, construction could begin this fall.
The center's director of patient services, Tom Hericks, says the facility is "outgrowing" its space. The medical center has more than double its number of employees since 2006.
A $225,000 loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture will cover the cost of the project.
Hericks says the expansion could be completed by fall 2016.
