MDA Labor Day Telethon to End

Who knew that Nancy Naeve leaving KSFY could create such upheaval? Even though Nancy hosted the local portion of the MDA telethon for years, the MDA gave a different reason for discontinuing their annual Labor Day telethon.

Since 1966, the MDA telethon raised billions of dollars for the Muscular Dystrophy Association on Labor Day. The event was hosted by Jerry Lewis until 2010.  Lewis is no longer associated with the MDA. Over time, the broadcast was cut from 21-1/2 hours to 2 hours and was most recently known as the MDA Show of Strength.

According to the MDA, they dropped the telethon to focus on more digital fundraising efforts.
