McGovern stays close to family

Mitchell, S.D. (AP)  Former Democratic presidential candidate George McGovern is giving up his homes in Mitchell and Florida to spend more time near his family in Sioux Falls, where he also has a home.

The former South Dakota U.S. Senator who turned 90 last month grew up in Mitchell and spent a lot of time in the city over the years.  Dakota Wesleyan University offered McGovern use of the house when the school was raising money to build the George and Eleanor McGovern Library.
