I recently cruised to Canton to pick up license plates at the courthouse and as I cut through Jack Fox park I noticed some great words engraved in the ground that left an impression on me:

The tablet reads:

Pause you who pass beneath this flag and remember the sacrifice of life and of treasure that has kept it aloft unstained and beautiful against the sky.

With May being National Military Appreciation Month, I asked a soldier friend of mine some ways we could say thank you to the men and women in our armed forces past and present.

  1. Just simply say "thanks"
  2. Raise a flag at your home or business
  3. Spend time with a veteran friend or family member young or old and truly listen.  Even if they don't say much, they still appreciate the time together.

"Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifices." - Harry S. Truman
