Adrian Peterson's two-year old son Ty died in a Sioux Falls hospital last Friday, the victim of an assault. Now the man who was raising the boy has gone on his Facebook page to set the record straight.

Bobby Ruffin -- the man who raised Adrian Peterson's two-year-old son took to Facebook to speak out on the toddler's death.

Ruffin wrote on his Facebook page:

So tired of this poor Adrian Peterson sh*t. Let me blow all your minds. The boy who died was my son. Yes A.P. he was the biological father but I raised him and he carried my name. Tyrese Robert Ruffin. I don't blame AP for not really caring cuz him and I both found out recently who the biological father was.

Ruffin continued:

AP met my son for the first time yest when my son was already in coma. I was here today when we pulled the plug, not him. He was happily practicing and has no problem playing on Sunday. So yea this isn't all out yet but I'm sick of the poor AP sh*t. He didn't know or even meet my son. Sorry for the outburst but put yourself in my place.

Peterson took a lot of heat from people on social media and news site message board for playing instead of being in Sioux Falls with his son. He sent a text to Laura Okmin of Fox Sports saying:

My brother passed the night before the combine and I decided to go through with it. The same reason why I will play this week. You may ask why? God wants good to come from it... We mourn and grieve but heaven had the baddest welcoming party for my son. That knowledge gives me peace. I'm still hurt and feel the pain of life, but I'm able to function because of the peace and joy of knowing my loved ones are in a much better place.

After Sunday's game (October 12th), Peterson told NFL.com:

I don't ask people to understand my mindset and how I think. Anything that's bad, I try to take good from it. That's the way I approach life in all situations. I never thought about not playing. It was all about just going out there and having the strength to play and having the strength to get through and help my team. That was my focus.

On how he was feeling after losing his son, he said, "It was tough. It's a crazy situation. Any time you lose a child ... it hurts."

27-year old Joseph Robert Patterson is being held on a $750,000 bond on charges of aggravated assault and aggravated assault on an infant in connection with the boy's death. Patterson was dating Ty's mother and was home alone with the boy when the assault happened. Sioux Falls Police said that additional charges are being considered.

Sioux Falls Police today (October 17) have identified the boy as Tyrese Robert Doohen. The main lesson to be taken from this horrible story is finding a way to end child abuse. It's a crime that happens too often, but it's been put in the national spotlight due to Peterson. We should focus on remembering the child and taking steps to end child abuse.
