RAPID CITY, S.D. - A 27-year-old Rapid City man has been sentenced to 9 1/2 years in prison after being convicted of aggravated sexual abuse of a teenage girl.

U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says Faron Ben Cheyenne pleaded guilty in November to sexually abusing a 16-year-old girl near Wounded Knee in July 2011.

Chief Judge Jeffrey Viken this week sentenced Cheyenne to 114 months in prison and 5 years of supervised release, and ordered him to pay $100 to the Federal Crime Victims fund.

This case was investigated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of Justice Services and the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety.
