SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — A man accused of killing his girlfriend in her Sioux Falls home a year ago has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Forty-year-old Timothy Moses had faced alternate counts of murder and manslaughter in the Dec. 28, 2014, death of 36-year-old Angel Schroeder. He entered his plea Tuesday and is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 24.

Authorities say Schroeder was beaten and choked, and that her 8-year-old son and a 13-year-old friend were sleeping in the basement at the time of her killing.

Police say the children told officers that Moses and Schroeder had been fighting.
