ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) - A South Dakota man has pleaded guilty to assault in a case that stemmed from a drug dispute.

Andrew Kills Crow, of Wakpala, was charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon. Each count carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

The American News reports that the 22-year-old Kills Crow and others assaulted two men by pistol-whipping and kicking them in late December 2011.

Investigators say the assailants believed the victims were suspects who stole drugs and cash from a Mobridge-area trailer.

Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 7.
