SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — A man who admitted killing his girlfriend in her Sioux Falls home more than a year ago has been sentenced to 60 years in prison.

Forty-year-old Timothy Moses reached a plea deal with prosecutors in December. He admitted killing 36-year-old Angel Schroeder on Dec. 28, 2014, while her son and his friend were sleeping in the basement, and prosecutors dropped a murder charge.

Moses was sentenced Wednesday for first-degree manslaughter. Prosecutors said Moses has a history of domestic assault offenses, and the judge gave him the maximum sentence allowed under the plea agreement.
