SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — A 32-year-old South Dakota man will spend five years in prison for attacking and abducting a woman he and his co-defendant believed was a police informant.

Donald Robert Wise of Crooks was sentenced Monday on a charge of second-degree kidnapping. Prosecutors allege he and 30-year-old Sioux Falls woman beat the victim unconscious, bound her hands and feet and loaded her into a vehicle. Authorities say the pair also planned to kill the victim, whom they had previously used drugs with.

The Argus Leader reports Wise and his co-defendant were arrested by Sioux Falls police on Aug. 11 during a traffic stop.
