A man in his 60s is charged with rape in a case involving a 7-year-old Sioux Falls girl.

Police Information Officer Sam Clemens says a woman needed a babysitter on Friday for her daughters, ages 7, 4 and 3, so she called on her uncle, who came to her house to watch her children while she was out.

Clemens says it's not known how long the woman was gone or when she returned, but he says around 3:00 am Saturday, she heard her 7-year-old daughter crying. He says the child told her mother she had been assaulted by her great-uncle.

Police were called, and after an interview of the girl by Child's Voice, Jose Tomas Guevara-Sorto, 62, was arrested for first-degree rape.
