Major Dehumidifier Recall
A recall has been issued for more than 2 million dehumidifiers involving 12 separate brands that have been shown to overheat, smoke and catch fire.
Major retailers such as Sears, Home Depot, Kmart, Sam’s Club, and Lowe’s sold the now recalled dehumidifiers between January 2005 and August of this year.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission lists the faulty brands as Kenmore, Frigidaire, De’Longhi, Fedders, Danby, Fellini, Premiere, Norpole, SoleusAir, Seabreeze, and SuperClima. They were all manufactured by Gree Electric Appliances, a Chinese major appliance manufacturer.
Consumers should immediately turn off and unplug the dehumidifiers and contact Gree at 866-853-2802 for a refund.
