OK, admittedly, country music isn't known for all-time classic Easter themed songs.

Our music had fantastic classic country Christmas songs, we have several absolutely wonderful patriotic song for the fourth of July, we even have some fun classic country Halloween hits!

And of course, all those great drinkin', cheatin', love, and story songs.

But there is one great fun Easter classic. Let's 'hop' into the KXRB Wayback Machine, shall we?

It's 1950 and one of country music's biggest star's is Jimmy Wakely.

Jimmy who? You may not immediately recognize the name, but in the 1940's and 1950's, Jimmy Wakely was a major country star. His name was in the country music over 20 times, perhaps most famously as the duet partner of Margaret Whiting. Yes, before Porter and Dolly, before Conway and Loretta, before George and Tammy, there was Jimmy and Margaret. They were country music's biggest duet in the late 1940's and early 1950's.

And it was at that time, 1950, that Jimmy released 'Peter Cottontail'. It reached #7 on the country & western chart and delighted kids (and adults) around the nation.

Happy Easter!
