Legislators to Mull Transportation, Tech Schools and Weapons
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — Lawmakers are expected to debate raising revenue to fund roads and bridges, allowing people to carry concealed weapons without a permit and expanding the kinds of games Deadwood can offer this week in Pierre.
The House State Affairs Committee will vote on a proposal Tuesday to raise roughly $50 million for transportation funding in South Dakota.
A proposal to make it legal to carry a concealed pistol without a permit in South Dakota is set to be considered in the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday. The plan removes the requirement for a concealed pistol permit from state law.
A proposal that would bar the state Board of Regents from overseeing South Dakota's four technical schools is expected to be considered in the Senate State Affairs Committee on Wednesday.
