A South Dakota Legislator endorses a penalty for untruthful testimony at an upcoming committee meeting.

Representative Bernie Hunhoff of Yankton is on the search for truthful answers concerning the EB-5 program, which has been under assault ever since the death of Richard Benda.

Hunhoff wants the assurance that questions submitted by the Government Operations and Audit Committee to Governor Mike Rounds, Dennis Daugaard, Joop Bollen and others involved in the EB5 scandal be answered in writing under penalty of perjury.

A statement submitted by Hunhoff says, "South Dakotans deserve answers on the EB5 scandal from key decision makers in person, under oath, and on the record. If the committee continues to give these public officials a free pass from cross examination by our legislators, then we must demand that all answers submitted are signed under penalty of perjury.”

The Government Operations and Audit Committee Chair Senator Larry Tidemann has requested Governors Rounds and Daugaard to submit their answers in writing prior to the Committee meeting scheduled for Wednesday September 24.
