In 1965 a lot of people lifted the top on their console stereo and put that brand new Buck Owens Christmas 45 on the turntable. It was a new Christmas song 50 years ago and it was fun!

'Santa Looked A Lot Like Daddy' is one of those relatively 'new' songs for the season that has brought smiles to people young and old for decades. Buck and his Buckaroo colleague Don Rich wrote the song and it was a huge holiday hit. And it didn't just fade away.

Through the many years since, the song has been recorded by dozens of artists, like Garth Brooks, Travis Tritt, the Tractors, Paul Brandt, Billy 'Crash' Craddock, and Brad Paisley. In fact the cast of Duck Dynasty released their version of it in 2013.

Buck passed away in 2006 at the age of 76 but what a great treasure of music he left us.

I've often said a great song never dies, and that goes for Christmas songs too. So click on the video below and....wait, hold on, just a minute here!

Thinking back, it's true...Santa did look a lot like daddy!
