The Minnesota Vikings have drafted a player at each position within the first three rounds. Some positions require a dive into the history books to find the most recent.

Throughout the offseason so far, fans have been paying attention to what the Vikings would do to try and help the offensive line. General Manager Rick Spielman was aggressive in free agency to try and do that by picking up Riley Reiff and Mike Remmers. History has shown that Spielman's focus on the draft hasn't been on offensive linemen.

We decided to take a trip back in history and find out when the last player was drafted at each position within the first three rounds.

Offense

  • Quarterback - Teddy Bridgewater, 2014 1st Round
  • Running Back - Jerick McKinnon, 2014 3rd Round
  • Wide Receiver - Laquon Treadwell, 2016 1st Round
  • Tight End - Kyle Rudolph, 2011 2nd Round
  • Offensive Guard - Marcus Johnson, 2005 2nd Round*
  • Offensive Tackle - Matt Kalil, 2012 1st Round
  • Center - Ryan Cook, 2006 2nd Round*

*There could be a technicality when it comes to the offensive line. Ryan Cook was listed as a center during the 2006 Draft, but he played offensive guard for the Vikings during his career. If he was counted as a guard, then the last center that the Vikings drafted during the first three rounds would be Kirk Lowdermilk in 1985 (3rd round)

Defense

  • Defensive End - Danielle Hunter, 2015 3rd Round
  • Defensive Tackle - Shariff Floyd, 2013 1st Round
  • Inside Linebacker - Eric Kendricks, 2015 2nd Round
  • Outside Linebacker - Anthony Barr, 2014 1st Round
  • Cornerback - Mackensie Alexander, 2016 2nd Round
  • Free Safety - Harrison Smith, 2012 1st Round
  • Strong Safety - Tyrell Johnson, 2008 2nd Round
