Allow me to introduce you to Moki and Burra, the two newest reasons to visit the Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum of Natural History.

Moki and Burra are two male Koalas who made their debut at the zoo on Saturday (May 13) as part of the “Koala Wilds” exhibit.

KDLT News is reporting that Moki and Burra are now part of more than 1,000 other animals that would love to meet you this summer at the Great Plains Zoo.

Elizabeth A. Whealy, President and CEO of the Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum of Natural History said, “We have been working for years to bring Koalas to the Great Plains Zoo, and are excited to introduce these unique animals to our visitors. Koalas are rare in North American zoos; the Great Plains Zoo is honored to partner with San Diego Zoo Global to bring Moki and Burra to Sioux Falls.”

Sioux Falls is very fortunate to have Moki and Burra come to town. As KDLT News reports, koalas are native to the eucalyptus forests of southeastern and eastern Australia. Only 10 large zoos, on the east and west coasts and large cities in Ohio, currently care for koalas in the U.S.

Sadly, Moki and Burra’s stay in Sioux Falls will be a short one. So don’t waste any time getting out to see them. The two male koalas will be spending their summer vacation at the Great Plains Zoo and can be viewed daily, with zoo admission now through Labor Day.

The Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum of Natural History is open to the public, Monday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Sunday’s.

Visit the Zoo’s website to learn more about Moki and Burra.
