Heart disease kills. It kills men and women, but it is the number one killer of women.

There are certain factors which you can't control in the battle to prevent heart disease, like your age, your family health history, your gender and your race. But there are many things you can control in your effort to avoid it and knowing your "numbers" is a good starting place.

Your "numbers" include your weight, blood sugar level, blood pressure, and cholesterol levels.

You can find out exactly what your numbers are at an event being hosted by Sanford Health, the American Heart Association and the El Riad Shrine on Friday, February 3, 2017, (which coincidentally is Wear Red Day) from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM at the Shrine Mosque in downtown Sioux Falls at 510 S. Phillips Avenue.

Health screenings are available at a reduced cost, including:

  • $25 Heart screen
  • $25 Vascular screen
  • $15 Heart health profile

You can get screened, enjoy a complimentary lunch from 11 AM to 1 PM and check out health-related booths and presentations.

Call (605) 312-2150 to schedule your screening and for more information check out the American Heart Association website or GoRedforWomen.org
