Keeping It Country In 2014, Meet Marianne Allison

If it seems like a lot of the new country music is pretty much warmed over 1980's rock, I have great news!  There are, indeed, country music artist's that are singing real (and great sounding) country in 2014!

While it seems a lot of 'country' stations won't play a song if they feel it's 'too country', here at KXRB and KXRB.com, we won't play a song if it's not country enough!

So with that being said, let me introduce you to a lady named Marianne Allison.

A lot of music comes across my desk each week...I mean, a lot.  To be honest, a lot of it isn't...well...how can I say this gently...a lot of it isn't the best.  And a lot of it is, as I said above, just loud rock and roll wearing a cowboy hat and trying to pretend it's country.  But then, every once in a while, something will come across that's not only country, it's good country.  Really good!

So it was the first time I played a song called 'Till It Breaks My Heart'.

Now, I guess I do something that a lot of other country people don't.  I play a song without checking the name.  I don't want to know who's singing...I'll check that out if the song is really good.  So I played 'Till It Breaks My Heart' and yes....I need to see who sings that!  And that's when I first 'met' Marianne Allison.  Or rather, I met her music.

We've been getting requests for the song and as you know (or if you don't) we don't play a whole lot of 'new' music.  We play the the best of the best ever recorded, and are proud of Haggard, Jones, Waylon and Willie and the other Hall of Famer's.  Then, we play some of the new 'real' country...people like Mary Sarah, Teea Goans, Gord Bamford and....
