ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) — A juvenile is facing a criminal reckless burning charge in an apartment building fire in Aberdeen.

Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Stacy Vrchota tells the American News that the basement tenant was doing something with gasoline on Friday and the gas caught fire. Attempts to extinguish the flames caused them to spread.

All tenants and pets in the four apartments got out safely. The fire damaged the basement apartment and caused structural damage to the building's first floor.

Authorities did not identify the juvenile because of his age.
