It's been a rough few days for the Josh Abbott Band. Following a series of traumatic incidents, the Texas-based country group has made the decision to postpone a number of upcoming events.

Over the weekend (July 23-24), the JAB experienced the cliche that "bad things come in threes." On Saturday (July 23), the band's bass player, James Hertless, lost his grandfather -- "a great man ... probably the greatest man I will ever know," the musician writes on Twitter. Hertless' grandpa, he explains, was a veteran of two wars and celebrated his 64th wedding anniversary on Friday (July 22).

"I can't help but believe he waited for one more anniversary with my grandmother. He will be greatly missed," Hertless writes, adding, "I would like to urge everyone to hold your families close and tell them you love them. You never know when it could be too late."

Also on Saturday, Abbott himself wound up in an emergency room due to an intense allergic reaction he suffered while on an IV to re-hydrate. His asthma kicked in, causing his throat to swell so badly that, according to a post on Twitter from the artist, the EMS team was concerned that he'd go into cardiac arrest. Abbott was released from the ER on Saturday evening, after being treated, but the band was forced to cancel their show in Las Vegas that night due to the incident.

Finally, the band reveals on Facebook, two of its members -- who are not named -- "discovered a dead body in Vegas in a horrific manner."

"Due to the severity of all of this, as well as the scheduling of James' grandpa's funeral, we will be canceling all radio visits, events and shows this week. They are being rescheduled as soon as possible and will be announced soon. We will resume touring again next week," the post continues. "We ask for your prayers and privacy this week. Thank you for understanding."

According to the Josh Abbott Band's tour calendar, affected events include a July 28 stop at the WC Handy Performing Arts Park in Memphis, Tenn.; a show at the Stage at Silver Star in Bossier City, La., on July 29; and a July 30 concert at Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa, Okla., which has already been rescheduled to Aug. 4. Fans can check the band's Facebook and Twitter accounts, as well as their official website, for more information on rescheduled dates as they are announced.
