One of the biggest acts in country music wrote a song on Jon Pardi's upcoming album, and he hopes she'll sing it with him.

Pardi didn't share the name of the song Miranda Lambert penned, but he did admit that he's working to turn it into a duet. He says he and Lambert have discussed the possibility, and while it's not a done deal, he feels pretty good about the prospect.

These Singers Are Keeping Traditional Country Music Alive

"I’m working on it, but we did shake hands," Pardi tells CMT's Cody Alan. "You know Miranda — she’s a Texan. A handshake goes a long way." He adds that he's working "to really talk her into it" and that "there might be some collab[oration] on the next record. I’m really excited."

Lambert's name is tied to an endless string of No. 1 hits, and Pardi topped the charts twice in 2017 with "Dirt on My Boots" and "Heartache on the Dance Floor," so no doubt a radio single with both acts on it would be a success. The two will spend the first few months of 2018 together, anyway — Pardi has been tapped to open Lambert's Livin' Like Hippies Tour that kicks off Jan. 18 in Greenville, S.C., and doesn't stop until March. Charlie Worsham, Ashley McBryde, Sunny Sweeney, the Steel Woods, Lucie Silvas, Turnpike Troubadours and Brent Cobb will also open select dates.

Pardi closed out his 2017 with a significant honor when he was awarded New Artist of the Year at the CMA Awards. His current single, "She Ain't in It," is at radio now.
